I’m a ‘lister’ and one of my favourite things about this time of year is writing what I consider to be ‘fun’ lists. I recently started listing ideas on my phone for great Christmas gifts for mothers/sisters/friends etc and I’ve transferred that list below for your festive enjoyment.
In the past I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing the aisles of Mecca and looking at all of the Christmas gift sets. This year it’s not an option because the thought of taking both kids shopping with me is the definition of crazy (there’d be no browsing) and I’m usually too tired at the end of the day to head out late night shopping on my own; thank goodness for Instagram and online shopping!
Here are some bits and pieces that have made me swoon and hopefully it gives you some inspo if you’re on the hunt for something special.
How pretty and playful are these?! I don’t wear much jewellery day-to-day but on special occasions I think a statement earring can absolutely make an outfit.
Listed above: Flamenco earrings $50, Dream Girl earrings (Rose) $55, Sundae earrings $45 and Firecracker earrings (Champagne) $45 all from Teal and Tala- find them here.
I discovered this brand at a pop up store in West Elm. At the time Ben and I were in the midst of buying a heap of cushions and photo frames in an ill-planned outing with the kids. I admired the candles briefly and lamented the fact that I can’t light candles these days til the kids are in bed. I have since regretted not buying up a bunch as the quality was absolutely beautiful and the fragrances were lovely and not sickly sweet. These would make such a beautiful gift for a friend/mum/sister etc. You can buy them online through Norsu Interiors for $29.95 here.
I don’t know any girl who doesn’t love getting new pjs. They’re an item you always appreciate but don’t always buy for yourself. I love anything personalised or monogrammed and the set from Homebodii is classic with piping and complimentary embroidery of an initial ($89 for the set here).
I’ve popped in a maternity option for any expecting mamas ($48 here). If I were pregnant and someone bought me comfy pjs I’d love them forever.
Floral pj’s may not be to everyone’s taste but I love them so I’ve thrown in ‘The Romantic Rose’ pyjamas from Asos ($56 here).
Beauty Bits and Pieces
Miss Frankie nail polishes make the perfect little gift or stocking stuffer- especially for an Australian Christmas when our toes are constantly on display. These pretties are Australian made, vegan, cruelty free, and come in a range of pretty shades where it’s difficult to choose a favourite (although Poppy and I are quite partial to ‘BFF’). This formula is ‘5 free’ and breathable, meaning it does not contain five toxic ingredients you may find in other polishes. You can read more about 5 free here. Miss Frankie polishes are $22 each and they have just released a Summer Fling fling gift pack for $69 here.
My favourite lip balm is the Baume De Rose from By Terry. I normally get the version packaged in a little pot and this year Mecca has released a gift set which includes a tube of balm and their luxurious, velvety hand cream. I’ve bought this for my mum in the past because I love it so much (By Terry Baume De Rose Duo Gift Set $88 here).
‘The Brush’ ($35 here). I haven’t used this brush, or purchased one before but it was one of my Internet finds as I was scrolling for Christmas present ideas. I have loved everything I have ever tried from Mecca’s own brand and I think the rose gold detailing is really pretty.
I know perfume is such an obvious choice but I’m including it in this guide because it is such a reliable gift (if you know the other person’s fragrance preferences; if you have no idea what they like, then steer clear of this one as its fraught with headache-producing danger). I love florals and Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is described as ‘the delicateness of a fresh rose dressed in peonies’- delicious. This Eau de Toilette is $135 here. I love the bottle on the Mon Paris Eau de Parfum which is $105 in a gift set here.
I have included the Urbay Decay Naked 3 eyeshadow palette ($83 here) because I use this every day. I purchased mine when Poppy was 4 months old so it’s been going strong for nearly 3 years and I definitely recommend it. The shades are all easy to wear and blend beautifully together without having to give much thought to what you’re doing- perfect for mums getting ready in a hurry.
The Snow Ball Brush Kit by MAC takes my fancy. I love adding makeup brushes to my collection and this little one would be great for travel or popping in a handbag. It comes with a powder brush, shadow brush and angle liner/brow brush. It’s $59 here.
The Go-To Everyday Heroes is a gift pack filled with cult products ($117 here). My lash extension lady recommends this particular cleansing mousse (Properly Clean) to help the extensions maintain their longevity. I tried some of hers a few weeks ago and it was absolutely beautiful so it’s now on my (super long) list of beauty buys. This kit also comes with Very Useful Face Cream and Face Hero (a popular face moisturiser and oil).
I am such a sucker for anything monogrammed. Maybe it’s the teacher in me but I love seeing items named- whether it be for my kids or myself (Ben hates it!). Country Road has jumped on board the personalisation band wagon and I have already ordered a couple of things for the kids. This towel is a perfect gift to kick of summer. It’s $89.95 here or $99.95 with monogramming (which I’d do in pink cursive of course).
The Daily Edited has a range of beautiful leather goods that can be customised with your initials. Head here to see a range of phone cases ($49.95) and here to check out my pick of a personalised coin purse ($69.95). This would be a great present for a mum who doesn’t want her wallet filled with coins but still needs access for parking, kids rides, supermarket trolleys etc.
That’s it from me! I’m keeping it short and sweet as I have literally just included things I have added to my own ideas list over the past few months. Thanks for reading and happy shopping!
