Today I’m sharing some of the images from our recent maternity/family photoshoot with Nicole Pas. There’s nothing I adore more than family photos- I cherish them now and I know that as we all grow older I’ll treasure them even more.

I’ve never booked maternity shoots in the past and with this being our last pregnancy, and with this baby being the final piece in our family puzzle, I’m really glad we captured this moment in time.

I love that all the images aren’t super posey- Nicole captured the bump beautifully but also got images of candid moments like Poppy picking a flower and twirling around, and Teddy clinging to me after he woke up from a sleep and needed a cuddle.

We met at the most stunning location and for the majority of the shoot Poppy and Teddy were running around (or running away) because they were so excited to be in this beautiful open space. Nicole was so relaxed about everything and I think that’s really important, as pregnant mamas do not need any extra stress!

I asked Nicole to share her top tips for anyone looking to book a maternity session and her advice is:

  1. To get the best belly shots book your session for when you’re around 35 weeks pregnant.
  2. Pamper yourself. Book in to get your hair and makeup done on the day of your shoot. Or better yet, ask your photographer to recommend a hair and makeup artist (they may even include it in their package).
  3. Have a think about how you want the images to look and send ideas to your photographer. Pinterest will be your best friend for inspo- that way you’re sure to end up with images you love.

If you’re from Melbourne and thinking about investing in a maternity or family photoshoot, I highly recommend Nicole. She is such a lovely person and her easygoing and gentle rapport makes her perfect for working with families. She has perfectly captured our children being themselves.

You can get in touch with Nicole and see more of her work via Instagram here or through her website here. Thanks Nicole, I’m so thankful to have these magical images.
